A significant Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage caused widespread disruption across the internet, knocking dozens of major services and websites offline. The problems, which appeared to stem from the US-EAST-1 region, left users unable to access a vast array of platforms, including many of Amazon’s own key services.
The disruption was immediately felt within Amazon’s own ecosystem. Owners of Echo devices found that Alexa was unresponsive, Ring security cameras failed to connect, and services like Amazon Prime Music and Audible were unavailable. The outage also reportedly had a severe impact on Amazon’s logistics and delivery operations, with warehouse and fulfillment center systems going down, potentially delaying packages.

The ripple effect extended far beyond Amazon, highlighting the internet’s deep dependency on AWS infrastructure. Major streaming platforms, including Disney+ and Netflix, experienced significant issues, preventing users from accessing content.
Gamers were also heavily impacted, with popular titles like Fortnite, League of Legends, Valorant, and PUBG all experiencing connectivity failures. Social media app Snapchat went offline, while other services like Instacart, Venmo, and the Robinhood and Coinbase trading apps also reported major problems.
The outage’s reach was comprehensive, affecting everything from smart home devices—like iRobot’s Roomba vacuums—to enterprise and news-gathering tools, including disruptions to the Associated Press (AP) newswire.
Amazon confirmed the issues on its official AWS status page, acknowledging problems affecting its US-EAST-1 region and working to resolve the failures that brought a large portion of the digital world to a temporary halt.
